Vibration White Finger Control        
The condition Vibration-induced White Finger (VWF) became a prescribed disease under the industrial injuries scheme in 1985.

By Vibration at Work Regulations, (2005), employers are required to assess and where practically possible reduce the exposure of workers to vibrating machinery. 

To help to protect operators of vibrating tools against VWF, a recommended measure is to ensure that operators are restricted to a maximum number of hours exposure in a day.  It is also recommended that the exposure is spread intermittently over the course of the day. 

 

With these recommendations in mind, E.C.Services has developed a VWF Control Unit that can be used to regulate the time a power tool can be used by the operator. The unit regulates the power distributed from the main supply, closing the supply when the timer runs to zero. The timer is threshold current operated for maximum practicality, only counting down while the power tool is in operation.  The timer will not be affected by a loss of power from the mains and is protected by a tamper resistant window. This will give the supervisor close control over the operatives period of tool use.

This portable, freestanding system offers supervisors a practical and efficient method of reducing the risk of tool operators being over exposed to vibration through the use of power tools.  For further information regarding the VWF Control Unit please contact us.
